Spain forward Alvaro Morata has signed a five-year contract with English Premier League champions Chelsea after spending multiple seasons with Real Madrid.
After spending two seasons in Italy with Juventus from 2014 to 2016, Morata rejoined Real Madrid last season, where he helped the Spanish giants win both Primera Division and UEFA Champions League titles.
"I am so happy to be here," Morata told the club's official website. "It’s an incredible emotion to be part of this big club. I am looking to work hard, score as many goals as I can and to win as many trophies as possible."
The news comes shortly after it was announced that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte had signed a new two-year contract with the club.
On the new signing, Conte had this to say: "I think for sure he is a good signing for us," Conte said. "Morata is a young player who has a lot of experience. He has played with Real Madrid and Juventus and has a lot of experience for the league and also in the Champions League."
Real Madrid released the following statement: "The club wishes to express its thanks for the dedication, professionalism, and exemplary conduct displayed by the player over the years, spanning his time in our academy right through to his spell as a member of the first-team squad."
