Futsal World Cup match schedule confirmed

The match schedule for the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016 has now been finalised. Less than a week after Ibague was removed from the list of host cities, both teams and fans now know where the tournament’s 52 matches will be played.

“FIFA and the Colombian Football Association have worked together to draw up a new schedule, with the games that were due to be played in Ibague being shared out among the other venues,” announced FIFA Event Manager Jaime Yarza. “Bucaramanga will now stage twice the number of group-phase matches than originally planned, giving its futsal fans even more opportunities to see some of the best teams in the world.”

The city’s Coliseo Bicentenario will stage a number of games, including: 11 matches in Groups D and E, one of the final matches in Group A, two Round of 16 games and a quarter-final.

The Coliseo del Pueblo in Cali will host a series of high-profile games, such as the host nation’s three group games, three Round of 16 ties, two quarter-finals, a semi-final and both the match for third place and the final.

Last but not least, the Coliseo Ivan de Bedout in Medellin will play host to the remaining games, the pick of which is the other semi-final. “We have three first-rate host cities and an attractive match schedule, and we now eagerly look forward to the final draw for the World Cup, which will take place in May,” added Yarza.
