After the successful completion of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Asuncion, the Paraguayan Football Federation (APF) is introducing brand new sport infrastructures to the world. On 30 November, with the inauguration of their latest Technical Center of “Albiroga” located in the city of Ypané, which has been renewed and adapted with the FIFA Forward programme funds, the member association can now pride itself on offering to all national teams top level infrastructures that meet the latest international standards.

In the new renovated facilities, all national teams have now access to the latest level of innovative technologies which will help the teams to train and prepare efficiently ahead of their competitions, host friendly preparation matches as well as conduct several capacity building activities for Paraguayan match officials.

For the General Secretary of Paraguayan Football Federation (APF), Luis Kanonnikoff, this a crucial step for the Member Association: “The importance of the Albiroga project is a paramount aspect leading to the success of the different Paraguayan national teams.

"Thanks to the FIFA Forward Programme, the APF is now able to enjoy high-level facilities that will enable the present generations as well as the future ones to experience a significant improvement in sports, educational and social performance. Undoubtedly, having facilities of the level we have today will enable the development and constant growth of Paraguayan football.”

With the support of FIFA Forward development funds and the guidance provided by the experts of the FIFA Member Association’s teams the Albiroga Technical Center, fully owned by the Paraguayan Football Association (APF), is becoming a world-class footballing facility. The concluded infrastructure project also includes modern, functional changing rooms, a new high performance gym for the first team, a new press conference room, a new rehab and medical area, a new indoor training center for youth categories and expansion and remodelling of the senior team living quarters.

In addition to this, it includes new catering facilities while the complete renovation of the administration and technical management building was also taken into account during the development phase of the project. Another key aspect was to provide it in an ecologically and sustainable way.

Profoundly involved in the project, Robert Harrison, the President of the Paraguayan Football Federation (APF) shared: “Thanks to the invaluable support provided by the FIFA Forward Programme, we were able to finance this new state-of-the-art Technical Center in Albiroga, at the forefront of the most advanced centers worldwide. Our member association is betting on football development to create the enabling environment which will hopefully help us to classify for Qatar 2022 and for many other future world championships.”

Douglas Martinez, Development Director of the APF also confirmed: “The Albiroga project is part of the great commitment of the APF and the administration of President Robert Harrison to the development of Paraguayan football, where the development of teams and human resources is being pursued to seek for excellence. All this was made possible thanks to FIFA’s commitment through its Forward Programme and the constant support of the FIFA Regional Office in Asuncion.”

Undoubtedly, thanks to the upgrade of such a modern Technical Center, it will benefit all football fans in the country and keep helping all Paraguayan national teams in their rise to the top.
