Format & prizes

Action gets under way on 13 April at 9.15am local time where 20 nations across four groups will begin their quest for global glory in a round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the quarter-finals. Each match-up between two nations in the group stage will consist of three games: the first being on PlayStation in a 1v1 format, the second on Xbox in a 1v1 format and the third consisting of a 2v2 format.

The console for the third game will be decided prior by both teams based on their individual preference. Each match-up between two nations in the group stage can result in 0-9 points and is counted towards the overall group table. The 2v2 format will only come in to play in the knockout rounds if points after the PlayStation and Xbox knockouts are tied.

In addition to international glory and a prize pool of USD 100,000, with the winning nation taking home USD 40,000, competing players will also have the chance to win up to 1,500 EA SPORTS FIFA 19 Global Series points. It therefore presents an ideal opportunity to move up the FIFA 19 Global Series Rankings and take a significant step forward on the Road to the FIFA eWorld Cup™ 2019.

Talking points

A rivalry resumed: An intriguing rivalry is developing on the eFootball scene between two Xbox giants: current No1 'F2Tekkz' and reigning FIFA eWorld Cup™ champion 'Msdossary7'. The latter defeated the former just last weekend in a pulsating console final win April’s FUT Champions Cup in London, as debate rages amongst fans regarding the status of top dog. With both players set to meet in Group A of the FIFA eNations Cup when England take on Saudi Arabia, this is a clash of titans not to be missed!

Formidable Germans: With Germany being the most represented country in the Xbox and PlayStation Top 10, competition for national team places was always going to be fierce. The two stars representing Germany are 'MegaBit' and 'MoAuba' – respected names on the eFootball scene who boast Grand Final experience – and as team-mates at Werder Bremen, they will feel right at home when it comes to the 2v2 format. They received a good luck message from none other than Marco Reus ahead of the tournament.

eFootball meets on-pitch stars: 'MegaBit' and 'MoAuba' were among the eFootballers pitting their wits against some of their on-field compatriots ahead of the FIFA eNations Cup. The German duo came up against internationals Dzsenifer Marozsan and Svenja Huth, who took a break from their FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ preparations and picked up controllers. Elsewhere, 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ winners such as Kylian Mbappe, Raphael Varane and Samuel Umtiti tested their FIFA 19 skills against France representatives 'MAESTRO' and 'DaXe'.

Battle of the South Americans: Argentina-Brazil is one of football’s most thrilling rivalries and has produced countless classic matches over the years. The South American heavyweights will meet in Group C in what also promises to be a captivating contest. Argentina boast one of the most dominant players on the eFootball scene in 'nicolas99fc' – the PlayStation No1 – who just two months ago tasted glory at the FIFA eClub World Cup. Brazilian duo 'Ebinhob' and 'Tore' will therefore have to be on top of their game to secure bragging rights for South America.
