England book ticket to France 2019

  • England qualify for 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup

  • Victory against neighbours Wales secures berth

  • France 2019 will be the Lionesses' fifth global finals

England have become the latest side to book their place at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup™ after a 3-0 victory against Wales in Newport.

Toni Duggan opened the scoring with a smart right-footed finish on 57 minutes, before Jill Scott’s looping header doubled the advantage three minutes later.

Nikita Parris, England’s top scorer of the campaign so far, made it three with a close-range header.

The result ensured Phil Neville’s side bagged top spot in Group 1 in European qualifying with one game remaining, while also inflicting a first defeat of the campaign on a valiant Wales team.

The entertaining clash between the neighbours was played out in front of 5,053 supporters, a record crowd for women’s football in Wales.

France 2019 will be England’s fifth Women's World Cup appearance. The Lionesses recorded their best ever finish at the tournament during Canada 2015 when they claimed bronze in the match for third place.

The Women’s World Cup will commence on 7 June with the final taking place in Lyon on 7 July.
