China PR joined hosts France in securing a berth at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019™ after booking their place in the semi-finals of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Jordan 2018.

Monday’s 3-0 victory over the Philippines, coupled with Thailand’s subsequent 6-1 win over tournament hosts Jordan, assured the Steel Roses of a top-two finish in Group A and their place at next year’s world finals.

France 2019 will be China PR’s seventh appearance at a Women’s World Cup, with East Asian side having reached the knockout stage in each of their past six appearances. This included a runners-up finish at USA 1999.

They will be joined at women’s football’s showpiece event by three more semi-finalists from this year’s Women’s Asian Cup, while the two third-place finishers in the group stage at Jordan 2018 will face each other in a play-off to decide the fifth and final qualifier from the Asian zone.
