Luis Suarez has made a heart-warming gesture to a child suffering from Cri du Chat syndrome. When the Barcelona superstar heard the youngster, who suffers from the rare genetic disorder, dreamt of meeting him, he invited him to Uruguay’s training complex in Canelones.

There, Suarez took time out from preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ qualifier in Chile to spend time with Aaron.

La Celeste’s all-time leading marksman presented him with the shirt he wore in Thursday’s 2-1 win over Ecuador, prompting the youngster to jump excitedly and then hug Suarez. The 29-year-old also signed a t-shirt and flag for Aaron, posed for photos with him and took him to watch a training session – much to the delight of the boy.

Uruguay are second in the South American standings, six points ahead of fifth-placed Chile. A Suarez-less Celeste won the teams’ first meeting in this World Cup qualifying campaign 3-0 in Montevideo.

Suarez's record haul in an international came against Chile in Brazil 2014 qualifying, when he scored all of Uruguay's goals in a 4-0 win.

Uruguay and Chile have participated in 12 and nine World Cups respectively. The only South American sides to surpass those totals are Brazil (20) and Argentina (16).
