Osorio keeps his word… but not his hair

  • Mexico lead the way in the CONCACAF Hexagonal final round with 10 points

  • Since Osorio was appointed coach of El Tri, the team have lost just one of their 20 games

The bet was as simple as it was fun: if Mexico took all six points from their recent 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ qualifiers against Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago, their coach Juan Carlos Osorio would have to shave his head. And if you are wondering who came up with the entertaining forfeit, it was none other than Javier Chicharito Hernandez.

That’s right, the same Javier Hernandez who helped kick off Mexico’s qualifying double header with a crucial victory over Costa Rica by scoring the opening goal on seven minutes.

Four days later, El Tri ensured their coach would have to pay his forfeit with a valuable 1-0 win away to Trinidad and Tobago. A man of his word, Osorio good humouredly submitted to the clippers in the dressing room after the game, much to the delight of his united squad.

And as Juan Carlos Osorio showed there, to win everything, sometimes you have to lose a little as well – even if it is your hair!
