Video Vault: When Brazil's Inter stunned the world

Brazil’s SC Internacional de Porto Alegre travelled to the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2006 as champions of South America, harbouring dreams of global glory. In their way stood a formidable giant: FC Barcelona, armed to the teeth with superstars such as Andres Iniesta, Deco and, of course, Brazilian titan Ronaldinho.

Faced with a daunting task, few could have imagined Internacional would continue the era of Brazilian dominance at the tournament – with Corinthians (2000) and Sao Paulo (2005) having been crowned before them – by pipping Barça to the title. But they did, thanks to Adriano Gabiru netting arguably the most famous goal in the club’s history. This is their story.
