Organising Committee approves draw procedures for FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019™

The Organising Committee (OC) for FIFA Competitions, chaired by Aleksander Čeferin, met at the Home of FIFA in Zurich today.

The OC was presented with a summary of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ and hailed the event as the most successful edition in the history of the competition. Furthermore, the OC was updated on the preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, including the recent unveiling of the Official Emblem and an overview of the preliminary competition following 71 matches.

FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019

The OC was informed of the latest developments regarding the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 presented by Alibaba Cloud, which will take place from 11 to 21 December. Four participants have already been confirmed: CF Monterrey from Mexico (winners of the 2019 Concacaf Champions League), Hienghène Sport from New Caledonia (winners of the 2019 OFC Champions League), Liverpool FC from England (winners of the 2018-2019 UEFA Champions League) and Al Sadd SC, the domestic champions from host country Qatar. CAF is due to confirm the African participant, while the representatives from CONMEBOL and the AFC will be known on 23 and 24 November respectively.

The Official Draw for the FIFA Club World Cup 2019 will take place at the Home of FIFA on Monday, 16 September at 14:00 and will feature FIFA Legend and Liverpool icon Michael Owen as the draw assistant. The draw procedures have been approved by the OC and are now available here.

Updates on FIFA competitions

FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2020™

The OC confirmed that the competition will take place from 2 to 21 November 2020. The Host Cities will be confirmed in due course.

The OC approved the procedures for the Draw for the Olympic Football Tournaments Tokyo 2020. The details are available here.
