5 days to go: First of many for Real

Up until 2014, Real Madrid – the FIFA Club World Cup’s most successful team with four titles – had never got their hands on the trophy. That all changed in Morocco when Carlo Ancelotti’s Los Blancos got the better of Argentina’s San Lorenzo in the final, adding another global title to their three Intercontinental Cups.

Goals from Gareth Bale and eventual adidas Golden Ball winner Sergio Ramos in the final against the Copa Libertadores holders ensured Real bagged their fourth trophy of 2014 to mark an end to an extraordinary calendar year.

The FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 gets under way on 11 December.
