Nigeria, Senegal to represent Africa at Paraguay 2019

  • Nigeria and Senegal qualify for next year's FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup

  • Progression secured with victories over Egypt and Morocco respectively

  • CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations final takes place on Friday

Senegal and Nigeria will be Nigeria's representatives at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Paraguay 2019 after they advanced to the final of the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria were the first to take their place, beating hosts Egypt 7-6 in a thrilling encounter in Sharm El Sheikh. It was a memorable day for the Nigerians' Abu Azeez, not only because he scored four goals in Nigeria's victory, but also because he scored his 100th goal for his country in the process.

The second semi-final was considerably more one-sided, with tournament favourites Senegal sweeping aside Morocco 7-2 to seize the continent's final berth at Paraguay 2019.

This will be the Super Eagles' sixth Beach Soccer World Cup participation, In their previous appearance at Bahamas 2017, they failed to progress past the group stage. Senegal, however, have proved more successful, qualifying for each of the last four global showpieces and reaching the quarter-finals in 2017.

The teams will now meet to decide the continental title in the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations final on Friday 14 December.
