Poland caused a surprise by becoming the first European team to qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017.

The Poles, having already seen off Ukraine, caused another massive upset by defeating former world champions Russia 5-3 on Thursday in Jesolo to lock up top spot in Group Three.

Hosts Italy, Portugal and Switzerland are all in pole in position to join Poland on Friday.

Next year’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup will take place between 27 April – 7 May.
