Dominant Bahrain reach FIFA Arab Cup

  • Bahrain beat Kuwait to a FIFA Arab World Cup place

  • Ali Haram and Sayed Hashim secured a 2-0 win

  • Bahrain will face Qatar, Iraq and Oman in Group A

Bahrain are heading to the FIFA Arab Cup™ after Ali Haram’s clinical, 73rd-minute finish and Hashim Sayed Isa's injury-time goal secured a 2-0 win over Kuwait. Helio Sousa’s side will now face Qatar, Iraq and Oman in Group A in the tournament, which begins on 30 November. Bahrain started quickly and Ali Haram’s header from an early corner almost gave them the lead. The same player, from the same action, then forced Khaled Al Rashidi into a smart save in the 18th minute. Kuwait had to wait until just before half-time for their first chance. Yousef Naser's effort lacked enough power to trouble Sayed Mohamed. It was all Bahrain in the second half, but Kuwait defended resolutely. When Mahdi Al Humaidan found space in the right, however, he cut the ball back cleverly for Ali Haram, who buried it into the bottom corner. Then, in stoppage time, Sayed Hashim fired home from close range to put the contest to bed.
