Third time's a charm for 'Rafsou'

  • Frenchman shines at his third consecutive Grand Final appearance

  • Xbox runner-up at FIFA eWorld Cup 2019

  • Season in review

After winning his opening group stage match, 'Rafsou' was on the wrong end of a 6-0 two-legged defeat by 2018 World Champion 'MsDossary' in his next game. It was looking like deja vu all over again for the Frenchman, who had gone out in the group stage the previous year to end his season on a disappointing note.

This time around though at the FIFA eWorld Cup, Rafsou proved he was made of sterner stuff and came through to finish second in Group B. Two more convincing wins in the knockout stage then saw him meet 'MsDossary' once more, in the semi-final.

The Frenchman showed that he had learned from his earlier mistakes and took a lead into the second leg after a strong performance in the opener. The Saudi Arabian then came battling back however, and illustrated exactly why he was the best Xbox player in the world for the second year in a row, winning the second leg 3-1 to qualify for the Final Showdown of the eWorld Cup .

Despite that disappointment, the season was a successful one for 'Rafsou', who can now be considered as one of the FIFA elite. His performances at three FUT Champions Cups, the eChampions League, the FIFA eClub World Cup and other tournaments won critics over, and for the past three years now he has been among the best Xbox players in the world.

While France demonstrated their strength at FIFA eSports by taking the inaugural FIFA eNations Cup title, they were not able to add another individual world champion title to their list this year, with Bruce Grannec’s 2013 success still the most recent for the country. Next year though, there is every chance that 'Rafsou' could join him and become the next player from France to get his hands on the most coveted trophy in the discipline.
