Mohamed Salah has been named CAF African Player of the Year for a second successive time. The Egyptian finished ahead of Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane and Gabon's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to take the award.
The 26-year-old received the accolade at a ceremony in Senegal on Tuesday 8 January.
"I have dreamt of winning this award since I was a child and now I have done so twice in a row," he said.
Salah netted 32 goals during the 2017/18 English Premier League campaign, setting a new scoring record. The Egyptian was an integral member of the Liverpool side that reached the 2018 UEFA Champions League final, a tournament where he finished joint-second in the scoring charts.
After scoring twice at the FIFA World Cup™ in Russia, Salah was nominated for The Best FIFA Men's Player 2018 in September and his superb effort for Liverpool against Everton saw him awarded the 2018 FIFA Puskás Award, with the Egyptian victorious having garnered 38 per cent of the vote.
