Postecoglou: Facing Germany is a great opportunity

Australia will travel to the FIFA Confederations Cup as Asian champions for the first time in their history. The Socceroos participated in Saudi Arabia 1997, Korea/Japan 2001 and Germany 2005 as champions of Oceania. This time around, they will be looking to build on their success of being crowned Asian champions in 2015 and will be hoping to represent the continent well at Russia 2017.

Their first test could not be tougher, as the Socceroos will go up against 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ champions Germany in Sochi at the Fisht Stadium on Monday 19 June. Three days later, they will face the champion of Africa in Saint Petersburg before wrapping up group stage play with an enticing match against Copa America holders Chile in Moscow on Sunday 25 June.

Australia head coach Ange Postecoglou spoke with FIFA.com moments after the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017 Official Draw was made. Watch his full interview above.
