Like any competition, the FIFA eWorld Cup™ 2019 has its pre-tournament favourites. Teenage sensation ‘Tekkz’, reigning champion ‘MsDossary’ and PlayStation No1 ‘Nicolas99fc’ are among the names expected to go far in the competition, if not lift the trophy on 4 August.

But with the world’s elite descending on London, all 32 participants will be aiming to realise their dream of becoming the EA SPORTS FIFA 19 World Champion.

We take a look at some of the lower-ranked seeds in London who, despite not being ranked in the Top 8 in their console, have the potential to cause a stir at the eWorld Cup.

Much of this season has seen ‘Tekkz’ and ‘MsDossary’ vie for dominance on the competitive FIFA scene – the former lifting three FUT Champions Cup titles, while the latter claimed two. The only other recipient of a FUT Champions Cup this campaign? Germany’s ‘DullenMike’.

The teenager replaced ‘Tekkz’ as the youngest FUT Champions Cup winner after defeating the likes of ‘Gorilla’ and ‘Dani’ en route to the title at 16. On his day, the fresh-faced Xbox whizz has shown that he is a match for anyone.

Carrying form into the eWorld Cup can be crucial for success at the tournament - and ‘Fifilza’ brings momentum going into the Grand Final. The Brazilian impressed at the FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs with a number of high-scoring wins before exiting at the semi-final stage after a narrow loss at the hands of eventual winner and PlayStation No1 ‘Nicolas99fc’.

The Wolves player will go into the tournament with confidence, not just on the back of his showing at the playoffs, but his impressive performances throughout the year at the likes of the FUT Champions Cup and eClub World Cup.

Only three of the 32 players on show in London know what it takes to reach the eWorld Cup final: reigning champion ‘MsDossary’, last year’s runner-up ‘Pinna97’ and ‘Janoz’. The latter last reached the Final Showdown in 2011, losing out to eventual winner Francisco Cruz.

Though that was eight years ago and much has changed in the game (current Xbox No1 ‘Tekkz’ would have been ten years old at the time, for instance!), ‘Janoz’ nonetheless boasts the experience and know-how required to reach the final two. It is something the Colombian can definitely use to his advantage in the British capital as he goes for another crack at global glory.

Though Denmark are heavyweights when it comes to the competitive FIFA scene, ‘Ustun’ is the only Dane at this year’s Grand Final. A former eClub World Cup champion, ‘Ustun’ has a proven ability when it comes to handling the pressure of competing at the highest level.

Can he add to a memorable year which saw him win the console final of March’s FUT Champions Cup and the semi-finals of the FIFA eNations Cup?

'Tass' put a disappointing FIFA 18 behind him with a strong showing this year that has seen him qualify for the eWorld Cup. While he admits he was surprised to make this season’s Grand Final, it is not without merit.

FIFA 19 has seen ‘Tass’ reach the semi-finals of the eClub World Cup 2019 and represented his boyhood team Arsenal in the inaugural ePremier League. Hailing from the English capital, thus having the advantage of playing the Grand Final on home territory, he will relish playing at The O2 in London more than most. Add to the fact he is making his third appearance at the Grand Final, he is well acquainted with the pressures and tasks that lie ahead.
