Just like every Sunday, we whet your appetite with a sneak peek at what is in store on FIFA.com in the days ahead.

The stakes are getting steadily higher with every passing game on the road to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, which is edging ever closer. It is now just a year until 32 countries come together for the next edition of the global extravaganza. Qualifying will be continuing in the CONCACAF, AFC and OFC zones this week and FIFA.comwill continue to keep you up to speed with developments through our World Match Centre and copious photos, statistics and analysis.

While the World Cup remains a speck on the horizon, the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017is right around the corner. The big kick-off takes place this coming Saturday 17 June, when the hosts face New Zealand in Saint Petersburg. We will be pulling out all the stops to build up to the Tournament of Champions by rounding off our daily countdown series, as well as bringing you all the latest on the final preparations in Russia and the eight participating teams' first steps in the race for glory.

As ever, we will be shining the spotlight just as brightly on women's football over the next few days. The highlights will include the opportunity to hear from Mark Sampson about his England side's growing ambitions. Having made major strides in recent times, the Three Lionesses are determined to keep kicking on at the upcoming UEFA Women's EURO 2017, while the FIFA Women's World Cup France 2019™ is already on many minds as well. We will also be taking you to Finland to find out about Minttu Korsberg's innovative project to develop the women's game in the country.
