  • London to host The Best FIFA Football Awards 2017

  • Zurich hosted inaugural edition

  • Ceremony to take place on Monday 23 October

The inaugural The Best FIFA Football Awards™ were held in Zurich, with the world's stars descending on the green carpet at the city's TPC Studios for a glittering ceremony. Cristiano Ronaldo and Carli Lloyd were crowned as king and queen of world football that evening. It is perhaps fitting that the upcoming edition of the awards will be hosted in a city fit for royalty: London, England.

Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth's official residence, is just one of the vast array of attractions that await visitors to the capital of the United Kingdom, with the London Eye, the Tower of London and the iconic Wembley Stadium just a few of the sights to tick off the bucket list for tourists visiting 'The Big Smoke'.

The city is steeped in footballing history both on and off the pitch. The Laws of the Game were first formalised in 1863 in the city, making London the birthplace of the modern game. On Wembley's hallowed turf, England lifted the FIFA World Cup™ in 1966, while a vast number of unforgettable FA Cup Finals have been played at the stadium which has also played host to the European Cup/UEFA Champions League final on no fewer than seven occasions.

All of this makes London a perfect host city for the upcoming The Best FIFA Football Awards, with the stars of the beautiful game set to descend on the city for the ceremony, on Monday 23 October 2017.
