Anything can happen at a FIFA eWorld Cup™ Grand Final and this year a number of favourites were knocked out in the group stage, while several underdogs pulled off upsets to get within touching distance of the title. We round up all the biggest shocks.

'M4RV' – No2 PlayStation seed last in Group D The No2 PlayStation seed was packing for home after the group stage, having been unable to repeat the impressive displays showed at the play-offs. He exited the tournament with five points and four defeats.

'Rafsou' – Number two Xbox seed winless at the Grand Final 'Rafsou' was on fire at the playoffs in Amsterdam, where he earned the number two Xbox seed ranking, making the Frenchman one of the favourites going into his second successive Grand Final appearance.

However, after conceding 48 times and ending with a goal difference of minus-23 across six defeats, one draw and zero wins, the Grand Final ended at the group stage for 'Rafsou'.

'Boras' – Second bottom in Group C despite Grand Final experience Having gained experience at several national tournaments and by reaching the semi-finals of the 2016 Grand Final, 'Boras' had his sights set on silverware in London.

Yet he only won once in the group stage and finished with four points, spelling an early exit from the competition.

'deto' – 2017 runner-up falls at first hurdle Last year's runner-up 'deto' was unable to produce a repeat performance this time around and likewise exited at the group stage. Despite a solid defensive showing in which he conceded just 26 goals, he could only manage two victories to finish on seven points.

'Presende7' – The Brazilian underdog Not many people will have had the Brazilian on their radar before the tournament started but he made an impact with four wins and 12 points.

He successfully reached the Round of 16, where he was defeated by eventual champion 'Msdossary'.

'kurt0411' – Almost the "world's best FIFA player" 'kurt0411' calls himself the "world's best FIFA player" but nobody could have predicted he would be so dominant, especially on day two of the Grand Final.

He topped Group A with six wins and more goals than anyone else in the group stage (59), as well as a goal difference of plus 25.

After overcoming 'GoalMachine21' and last year's champion 'Gorilla' in the knockout phase, 'kurt0411' lost out to 'Msdossary' in the semi-finals.

'Honey Badger' – New Zealander causes a stir in the group stage He may have been one of the rank outsiders ahead of the Grand Final, but 'Honey Badger' stormed to ten points with 38 goals in the group stage to earn a berth in the Round of 16.

There, the New Zealander was on the wrong side of a narrow 5-4 scoreline against Group D winner 'MoAubameyang‘.

'Stefano Pinna’ - Underdog reaches Final Showdown Despite playing consistently well all year, only few observers would have foreseen Stefano Pinna going all the way to the Final Showdown.

After finishing second behind title favourite 'nicolas99fc' in the group stage, he defeated six-time Grand Finalist and 2014 champion 'Agge', two-time Grand Finalist 'MoAubameyang’ and 2017 FICWC champion 'Marcuzo' in the knockout phase, only losing in the Final Showdown against 'Msdossary'.

We caught up with Pinna after the Grand Final to hear about his campaign and hopes for the future.
