The best gamers from across the Americas went head-to-head in Miami on Sunday in the third and final FIFA Ultimate Team Season 1 regional final. The cream of the crop from Canada, USA, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Brazil descended on sunny Florida to vie for six places at May's FIFA 17 Ultimate Team Championship Final in Berlin.

Just like at the recent events in Paris and Sydney, this weekend's proceedings feature 32 players competing across the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One divisions. The field in the latter category notably includes several familiar faces who have shone in the FIFA Interactive World Cup in the past. Javier "Janoz CFI" Munoz followed up a quarter-final showing at the FIWC 2010 with a runner-up finish a year later in Los Angeles, Rodrigo "D1G0" Araujo Miranda graced the showpiece in New York last year, while Giuseppe "xGUASTELLAX" Guastella came fourth in Dubai in 2012.

This distinguished trio will be seeking to exploit their illustrious experience on the world stage in order to fend off the challenge of the various rising stars hoping to follow in their footsteps and earn a spot at the FIWC 2017 Grand Final in London. The next step towards achieving this goal is to book a ticket to Berlin and, considering the standard on display during qualifying, a compelling battle looks to be on the cards.
