LaLiga enters the FIFA eWorld Cup arena

  • Spain launches FIFA 18 eSports league

  • McDonald's Virtual LaLiga eSports set to begin on 19 March

  • Winner will go to EA SPORTS FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs

While Spain may be able to boast having many of football’s biggest stars plying their trade on its soil, can the same be said about eSports? Well we’re set to get a clearer idea with the McDonald’s Virtual LaLiga eSports joining the EA SPORTS FIFA 18 Global Series on the Road to the FIFA eWorld Cup.

Following in the footsteps of the Australian A-League, the USA's MLS and the J.LEAGUE in Japan, Spain’s LaLiga are the latest division to pit their nation’s top FIFA players against each other in the hunt for a spot at the FIFA eWorld Cup.

Kicking off on 19 March, players will have the chance to claim one of 16 places on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, before the 32 qualifiers head to Barcelona where they will compete face to face on 16 April. Whoever is crowned on the Mediterranean coast will earn their seat at June’s EA SPORTS FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs, where they could get their hands on a ticket to the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018 Grand Final where the dream of millions will become reality for one new world champion.
