After months of intense competition around the globe, the eagerly anticipated FIFA eWorld Cup 2019™ gets under way on Friday 2 August at The O2 in London.

Millions of players started out with the release of FIFA 19 in September 2018 and with the culmination of July’s FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs, the world’s top 32 players will vie for the right to call themselves the world's best.

FIFA.com takes a look at PlayStation’s Group D which has the potential to produce many memorable encounters at the Grand Final.

The players

‘Maestro’ – PlayStation #2

Known for busting out a Kylian Mbappe-style celebration, ‘Maestro’ has already tasted global glory this year. The Frenchman, along with team-mate ‘DaXe’, was part of Les Bleus side that won the inaugural FIFA eNations Cup – bettering 19 other national teams to lift the trophy. The e-Ligue 1 winner with Dijon FCO in his homeland, ‘Maestro’ is a match for any formidable opponent.

‘Pinna97’ – PlayStation #3

‘Pinna97’ will likely have bittersweet memories of The O2 in London. Though naturally despondent to lose in last year’s showpiece decider against eventual eWorld Cup 2018 champion ‘MsDossary’, the Belgian’s valiant performances saw him sit top of the PlayStation pile in the British capital last time out. Can he repeat last year’s feat, or even go one step further this time around?

‘Joksan’ – PlayStation #6

‘Joksan’ kicked off the competitive FIFA 19 season with victory at the FUT PlayStation Continental Cup and winning the PlayStation side of November's FUT Champions Cup before finishing July’s Global Series Playoffs with a place in the knockouts - with many solid performances in between. The North American’s work is far from over, however, as he looks to finish his FIFA 19 campaign with a bang at the eWorld Cup.

‘Didychrislito’ – PlayStation #7

‘Didychrislito’ made history this year by becoming the first-ever winner of the eChampions League. The New York City FC player also had the honour of parading the trophy at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid just hours before Liverpool’s continental triumph over Tottenham Hotspur. The American’s success in Madrid means he will naturally be buoyed as he prepares for the Grand Final.

'NYC_Chris' - FIFA eWorld Cup

'Fifilza' – PlayStation #10

‘Fifilza’ will take a huge amount of confidence from his performances at the FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs as he prepares for the eWorld Cup. The Brazilian recorded a number of high-scoring victories before bowing out at the semi-final stage after a narrow loss at the hands of eventual winner ‘Nicolas99fc’. The Wolves man certainly carries significant momentum going into London and is one to watch.

‘RastaArtur’ – PlayStation #11

Sporting Lisbon’s ‘RastaArtur’ joins compatriot ‘Tuga810’ at the eWorld Cup, meaning Portugal have two formidable representatives at the competition. The pair reached the semi-finals of the inaugural eNations Cup on what has been a memorable FIFA 19 campaign for both. Can ‘RastaArtur’ add to Portugal’s memorable season with a strong showing at the Grand Final?

'RastaArtur' - FIFA eWorld Cup

'Zezinho' – PlayStation #14

Another of the five-strong Brazilian contingent at the eWorld Cup, 'Zezinho' has demonstrated his capabilities this season by reaching the console final of March's FUT Champions Cup and the semi-finals of the eChampions League. Currently representing Team Gullit, 'Zezinho' returns to the competition having been a Grand Finalist in 2017.

'TheStrxngeR' – PlayStation #15

One of Germany's leading players, 'TheStrxngeR' is no stranger to the global finals. The FC Basel man is making his third consecutive appearance at the Grand Final. A consistent presence at the likes of the FUT Champions Cups this year, he finished second at the Continental Cup Presented by PlayStation.
