Football’s importance discussed in UK PM meeting

The United Kingdom's important position both in the history and in the development of football worldwide was discussed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson in a meeting that was staged around the 76th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York, USA.

“Football is a way of life across the United Kingdom, and the passion that the Prime Minister has for the sport is evident,” the FIFA President said.

Both the FIFA President and the Prime Minister discussed the efforts made in the UK in the continued fight against racism and discrimination globally, the ongoing cooperation established to support travel during international windows and partnership to ensure equal opportunities for all. The FIFA President also referenced recent performances of the British associations in men’s and women’s national team football and the UK’s prominent role in hosting major sporting events
