Transfers aplenty ahead of competitive FIFA season

  • FIFA eWorld Cup™ champion 'MoAuba' leaves Werder Bremen

  • Several big names on the hunt for a new club

  • First look at the latest transfer updates ahead of the new season

In many sports, the end of one season heralds the start of another. This is particularly true in the world of eSports, where teams began making numerous changes in the immediate aftermath of the FIFA eWorld Cup 2019 in London in a bid to be among the top-performing clubs of the new season and have their say in the race for the FIFA eClub World Cup™ title. We take a look at the first wave of transfers after the season finale:

World champion leaves Werder Bremen

On 4 August, Mohammed Harkous lifted the FIFA eWorld Cup trophy for Germany and his club Werder eSports. Yet scarcely two weeks later he announced his departure from the city on the River Weser. With his new team yet to be announced, there is fevered speculation within the community about where the world champion will start the new season.

On the day they bid their former star farewell, Werder Bremen announced the signing of 'DrErhano', who will replace 'MoAuba' alongside Michael Bittner. At VFB Stuttgart, Burak May – who has impressed onlookers in the Virtual Bundesliga over the past two years – is tasked with filling the gap left by 'DrErhano'.

Team Vitality's new-look line-up

The French club chose not to extend the contracts of three-time Grand Finalist and FIFA eWorld Cup Xbox runner-up 'Rafsou' and FIFA eClub World Cup contestant Aurelien Cheron and instead agreed a long-term deal with 'Maestro'. The Frenchman has performed impressively over the past season and won the FIFA eNations Cup™ for France alongside national team-mate 'DaXe'.

Team FUTWIZ

Team FUTWIZ extended the contract of 'Marko' after his strong performance last season, where he was called up to the Australian national team and qualified for the FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final. The club also signed 'Lyricz'.

Danish players in demand

Two-time FIFA eClub World Cup champions Brondby eSports retained one of their top performers in Daniel Dingo, while Ustun, who won the eClub World Cup title with the Danish side in 2018, has moved to Future FC after his time with M10 eSports.

Free agents aplenty

Among those still available are eWorld Cup 2019 Grand Finalists 'RastaArtur' and 'Stokes' as well as experienced players 'Idealz' and Ryan Pessoa, who made a shock departure from Hashtag United.

More exciting transfers are in store over the next few days and weeks, which should give us a better idea of the teams that will be among the favourites for the FIFA eClub World Cup over the coming year.
