eClub World Cup returns as new online qualification process opens

The FIFA eClub World Cup™ is back! For the fourth time in a row and featuring a more accessible online qualification process, including more games and more opportunities to qualify, the eClub World Cup 2020 will feature the very best club teams in the world, who will compete to lift one of the top prizes in FIFA gaming at a special offline tournament in February 2020.

Since its launch in 2017, the eClub World Cup has featured the world’s best real-world football clubs and endemic eSports teams in EA SPORTS FIFA and will see all teams eligible for the tournament take part in a brand new six-week online qualification process that has been introduced for the 2020 edition.

This year’s online qualification will divide all registered and approved teams into multi-tiered qualification stages based on their performance in previous eClub World Cups.

Two players – one on PlayStation 4 and one on Xbox One – can be nominated by teams and will be able to compete in a round-robin league online qualification. Each match-up of the online qualifiers consists of two games, one Xbox game and one PlayStation game. The score of each game will count individually.

The best teams per tier will be promoted until they reach the top tier and only the 24 top-ranked teams will qualify for the eClub World Cup in February 2020, representing their club and compete against their rivals on the world’s biggest stage for competitive EA SPORTS FIFA teams.

How to apply for the FIFA eClub World Cup 2020:

  1. All eSports teams with dedicated EA SPORTS FIFA players are invited to register on FIFA.gg, FIFA’s official player registration platform, until 07 November 2019 2.30 PM Zurich time

  2. FIFA will review the registration and communicate the tiers, groups and seeds by November, 11th 2019

  3. Online qualification takes place between November 26 – December 22 (two match days per week)

  4. Qualify and compete at the eClub World Cup 2020, which takes place from 7-9 February.

More information about the registration process can be found below.

In order to qualify, teams have to reach the first tier and be among the top 24 teams to get their invitation to the FIFA eClub World Cup 2020. Depending on the number of registered teams, a certain number of teams will either maintain, get promoted or demoted based on their game results in the online qualification. An example with a three-tier model can be found below:

Tier 1

  • 1st – 6th: Maintain

  • 7th – 9th: Demoted

Tier 2

  • 1st – 3rd: Promoted

  • 4th – 6th: Maintain

  • 7th – 9th: Demoted

Tier 3

  • 1st – 3rd: Promoted

  • 4th – 9th: Maintain

Qualification schedule

Teams will have dedicated matchdays to take part in the eClub World Cup online qualification as outlined below:

  • Week 1: November 26th & 27th

  • Week 2: December 3rd & 4th

  • Week 3: December 10th & 11th

  • Week 4: December 18th & 19th

  • Final Weekend: December 21st & 22nd

In order to guarantee a smooth and trouble-free Online Qualification, we had to decide to postpone the first matchday (initially planned for Nov 12 & 13) of this year’s competition.

The aspiration to provide all participating teams & players with the best possible experience was, unfortunately, due to technical issues no longer to guarantee. Therefore, all included parties took the decision to move the start to a later date (Nov 26). We very much apologize for the inconvenience.

FAQs:

How will the tier allocation be decided?

Tier allocation is based on past performances of the teams at the eClub World Cup. In detail, it is based on the team’s number of participations in eClub World Cups and successes at the FeCWC events. Teams will play six sets of round robin matches with the top teams moving on to the eClub World 2020 final competition. The tier allocations will be announced once the registration process is complete.

A team’s group allocation depends on the residency of both players. If players are from two different regions, the team can decide about the region they would like to compete in. If a decision was not being made within 24h after the request, FIFA will allocate the team to the region with the most teams.

How can I register my teams and clubs?

Go to fifa.gg, click on “Register” and follow the registration process. More information such as transfer requests and details about the registration process can be found here .

Can I represent another team in the EA SPORTS FIFA 20 Global Series?

If players choose to compete in the eClub World Cup, such players must represent the same organisation in any other EA SPORTS FIFA 20 Global Series event as they do in the eClub World Cup from November 11, 2019 to February 29th, 2020. If the Competitor no longer has a relationship with that organisation, or wishes to represent a different organisation, they must compete as a free agent.
