Shortly before the 2018 / 2019 season began, FIFA eWorld Cup 2018 commentator Richard Buckley said in an interview: "2019 could be Adam Ryan’s breakout season".

The 17 year old has already shown what he can do after coming third in the Gothia eCup, 1st in the UK on the PS4 Gfinity Elite Series, while his consistent performances in the weekend league including two 30-0 finishes earned him a place among the 200 best players in the FIFA 19 Global Series Rankings.

He currently competes for Bundled eSports. Bundled are giving him amazing support to help him reach the top level and he is clearly very appreciative of that he said “My coaches at Bundled are basically family to me now they are always giving me amazing opportunities and also making sure I have the best conditions and equipment in order to perform to my maximum capabilities.”

Adam’s journey to the upper echelons of the eSports scene was made possible by someone very close to him. "When I was growing up, my grandfather taught me everything I know and bought me every game from FIFA 2006 to FIFA 2015," he recalled.

Then a tragic event changed everything. Adam’s grandfather passed away at Christmas four years ago, which was a huge blow for the youngster. "At this time of year, I struggle to be myself and even celebrate Christmas now as it just doesn’t feel the same for me anymore," he explained.

Despite – or even because of – this devastating loss, the young Scot is trying to make the most of what his grandfather passed on to him in his early years. "He’s the reason I’m still playing FIFA today and why I’m competing and trying to reach the top level," Ryan said. "He told me to follow my dreams and that’s exactly what I’m doing."

This motivation helped him to constantly improve in 2018, which means he is increasingly considered among the dark horses when entering tournaments.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported me and helped me improve as a player," he wrote to his fans at Christmas. "This year has been better than I could ever have imagined and I’m sure 2019 is going to be even better."
