Despite his young age, Christian Bassogog has already collected an impressive number of passport stamps. The talented tyro began his career with Rainbow FC, but since leaving Cameroon, he has paraded his skills in the USA, Denmark and China PR. However, it is with the Indomitable Lions that Bassogog has made the strongest impression.
First called up in November 2016, he made his Cameroon bow in a 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ qualifier against Zambia. He soon opened his international account as well, registering a few weeks later in a preparation match for the 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations. Bassogog went on to play a starring role at the continental finals, turning heads thanks to his creative promptings and ability to leave defences in disarray. Aged just 21, the left-footed winger contested every game for Cameroon and became a fixture on the right flank, earning two man of the match awards. Even better was to come when he was named player of the tournament – just reward after taking the competition by storm.
