Monty Patterson first shot to prominence in 2013 when he was named best player and top goalscorer at the OFC U-17 Championship. He featured prominently for New Zealand at that year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup, and was again a key figure when his nation played host to the U-20 version of the World Cup two years later.
A leap into the senior national team soon followed, as Patterson debuted at the 2016 OFC Nations Cup, and featured in the final, as the Kiwis earned their ticket to the FIFA Confederations Cup. Patterson has been in the Ipswich Town youth system ever since a successful trial in 2013. A strong-running forward, Patterson may struggle for game time at Russia 2017 behind more experienced options in attack for coach Anthony Hudson.
