During the course of his career, Miguel Layun has gradually earned the affections of Mexico fans. The full-back made his debut with Veracruz in 2006 and had a brief stay at Italian Serie A side Atalanta before joining Club America in 2010. Though Águilas fans were unenthusiastic about his arrival at the club, Layun did not let that get him down and fought hard to establish himself and win the doubters over.
In raising his game and excelling in his position, the two-footed Layun eventually earned an international call-up. He then returned to Europe to sign for Porto in 2015. Russia 2017 will be Layun’s first FIFA Confederations Cup, a tournament that will give him the opportunity to continue cementing his place in Juan Carlos Osorio’s side.
