Ambroise Oyongo was one of the first names on the team sheet during Cameroon’s successful 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations adventure, during which he played every single minute. The tireless left-back was called up to the senior team for the first time back in 2013 for the qualifying campaigns for that year’s Cup of Nations and for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, although he was not selected for the final tournament.
The defender was included in his country’s 23-man squad for the 2015 Cup of Nations, however, and he made the most of his opportunity by scoring the Indomitable Lions' first goal of the competition in their opening draw with Mali. His efforts, however, proved insufficient in preventing Cameroon from finishing bottom of Group D at Equatorial Guinea 2015. At club level, Oyongo left his homeland for the USA in 2014, initially impressing with Major League Soccer club New York Red Bulls before moving north to Canada to join current side Montreal Impact in 2015.
