Tamati Williams came to international attention with a stellar showing for Auckland City in the club’s stunning run to the semi-finals of the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup. Ostensibly New Zealand’s third-choice goalkeeper, Williams was first called into the national squad during 2006 FIFA World Cup™ qualifying, yet didn’t debut for the All Whites until 2014.

Born in Dunedin, Williams – whose first name means Thomas - has Maori and Dutch heritage. Williams worked extensively as a model for several years, and it was only last year at the age of 33 that he joined his first professional club – Dutch second tier side RKC Waalwijk.
