Hudson: Playing against host nation is huge

New Zealand face a challenging task to advance from Group A at the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017, with the Oceania champions set to face hosts Russia, CONCACAF powerhouse Mexico and European champions Portugal next summer. This will be the All Whites’ fourth trip to a Confederations Cup, with their three previous appearances all ending in the group stages at Mexico 1999, France 2003 and South Africa 2009.

Anthony Hudson’s side are keen to pull a surprise at Russia 2017 and are relishing the opportunity to play in the opening match against the Tournament of Champions hosts in Saint Petersburg on 17 June 2017. Four days later in Sochi, New Zealand take on Mexico at Fisht Stadium before returning to Saint Petersburg to play Portugal in their Group A finale on 24 June 2017.
