Video Vault: LDU de Quito's historic legacy

LDU de Quito broke the mould in 2008 by becoming the first Ecuadorian team to win the Copa Libertadores. Their continental success in South America propelled them to the FIFA Club World Cup and on to the global stage for the first time.

After beating CONCACAF kings Pachuca in the semi-finals, they stood on the cusp of global glory in Japan. Though Quito were downed by a solitary Wayne Rooney goal against a star-laden Manchester United in the final in Yokohama, Los Azucenas’s 2008 odyssey on the worldwide stage left a historic legacy nonetheless.
