Etoile du Sahel-Urawa Red Diamonds: Post-match quotes

Holger Osieck (UrawaRed Diamonds coach): "I'm very pleased that we finished third in this prestigious tournament, it means a lot to us. I'm particularly happy for our fans who really are unique in the support and enthusiasm they show - something they proved again today. It was a very open match, and my players showed real commitment and team spirit - I'm very proud of them, even if both of the opposition's goals were avoidable. My players also showed the single-mindedness that you need in a penalty shoot-out. You could see that every one of them was determined to score from the spot. We can look back now on a highly successful season. Washington had an excellent game and showed what a good player he is, and full credit to him. I'm really pleased for him and would like to wish him all the best for the future."

Washington(UrawaRed Diamonds forward): "We're delighted. Of course what we really wanted was to win the tournament, but the two favourites made it through to the Final and that's what you'd expect. I'm particularly pleased that I was able to bid farewell to our wonderful fans with these two goals. It's a very emotional moment and I'd like to thank them all. I'll never forget Urawa and their supporters."

Bertrand Marchand (Etoile duSahelcoach): "It's a bitter disappointment, but the Club World Cup was still a great experience for us. Our aim before the tournament was to reach the semi-finals and thus be one of the four best club sides in the world. We beat Pachuca and only narrowly lost to Boca Juniors, and my team really showed what they were made of. In the first half we didn't pass the ball around quickly enough, but we managed to control play a lot better after the break. Urawa are a very good team, they played really well and took all the chances that came their way."

Moussa Narry (Etoile duSahelmidfielder): "We unfortunately lost the penalty shoot-out, and that's obviously a bitter disappointment, but that's football. We played well and we gave it everything we had. Urawa proved that they are a very good team. We wanted to put them under pressure at the back but we didn't quite manage to pull it off."
