Egypt powerhouse Al Ahly are into their first CAF Champions League final for four years after overwhelming Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel with a stunning semi-final second-leg showing in Alexandria on Sunday.

After suffering a 2-1 away loss, Al Ahly drew aggregate scores level just two minutes after kick-off when Ali Maaloul scored with a smart free-kick.

Walid Azarou then scored three goals in a row as Ahly constantly cut holes in the visitors’ defence in front of 40,000 spectators.

An own goal and a fine strike from Rami Rabiaa did further damage after the break, before Etoile collected two consolation goals for a 6-2 scoreline (7-4 aggregate).

Al Ahly will face Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca who claimed a 3-1 aggregate win over Algeria’s USM Alger on Saturday.

It will be an eleventh continental final for Al Ahly, who will be seeking to extend their record number of victories to nine.

The final will also be a two-legged affair, with the first instalment taking place on 27 October and the return a week later.

The winner will represent Africa at the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017.
