14 days to go: Sao Paulo keep Brazilian flag flying

The FIFA Club World Championship returned after a five-year hiatus in 2005, swapping the samba and carnival of Brazil for the land of the rising sun. Japan played host to a tournament which saw six continental champions gather in Tokyo, Toyota and Yokohama in December that year.

A mouth-watering decider was teed up between the kings of South America and Europe, as Sao Paulo and Liverpool went head-to-head for global glory. A Rogerio Ceni-inspired O Clube da Fé lifted the title, with Mineiro bagging the only goal of the encounter.

The FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 gets under way on 11 December.
