**The match developed like we thought it would, both clubs were evenly matched. We started well but, afterwards, Club America regained power and we conceded two goals. It hurt not to reach the Club World Cup final, but we wanted to do our best to finish third. Club America is a great team that has a lot of international players. It has been a good year on the pitch for Atletico Nacional, winning the 2016 Copa Libertadores. We did want to advance to the Club World Cup final and it was unfortunate that we were unable to achieve that. But we were able to end the year in a good manner by finishing third.

**The game turned out to be as we expected: it was high level and there was little to separate the two sides. Unfortunately, we lost on penalties but that doesn’t mean that Atletico Nacional were the better team on the day. Mexican football is strong. Colombia won today but were we were able to demonstrate the strength of Mexican football. We conceded two goals in the first half but we battled back with two goals of our own. I’m happy with the performance. Our club showed fighting spirit and we didn’t give up. We continually attacked and in the second half, we made a lot of opportunities for ourselves. A penalty shoot-out is like a coin toss.
