Lamine N’Diaye, TP Mazembe Englebert coach
We hoped to give a better performance but we committed a lot of tactical mistakes early in the match and paid for that by losing two goals. From a physical point of view, my players were very tired because the Pachuca and Inter matches were both very difficult. But I must say that Inter were better than us and deserved to win. Perhaps physical exhaustion was a reason why we made so many mistakes, but we also faced an excellent opponent with great experience who were very efficient. We were not at our best and didn’t defend well, but Inter undoubtedly had a role in that. The scoreline could have been different but we were here to learn and we will now exert every effort to improve in the future.

Rafael Benitez, FC Internazionale Milano coach
This was not an easy game, there was a lot of pressure on us to win and we had to be very focused from the beginning. We controlled the ball, dominated midfield and ultimately controlled the game because of that. The game had to be about control of the ball and we made sure it was not easy for Mazembe tactically. I chose a strong defence because I knew our oppoents were very dangerous, especially the No15 (Dioko Kaluyituka). Inter needs to bring in new players because we have had a lot of injuries and need healthy competition for places. I’m calm, I’m motivated, and I’m sure if we get new players, the results and the team will improve significantly. For now though, we just want to enjoy this victory.
