Lamine N’Diaye, TP Mazembe Englebert coach
The match was very difficult for us, as we expected it would be. I would like to congratulate our opponents, who played very well, and my own players, who worked hard and did well with ten players. Our aim now is to develop and to play better in the coming games. We won tonight’s match due to the bravery and courage of our team, but technically we could have been better. When you have a stage completed, you look for a higher level, and this was an initial stage for us. Internacional are a strong team and we are looking forward to playing them. We will work hard and give our best to try to win.

Pablo Marini, Club de Futbol Pachuca coach
For the first 20 minutes it was really hard for us, but after that we controlled the game. We created several opportunities and dominated in the second half - we just missed out in the final phase. Overall, I think we played a very good game and had good control of the match. Of course, we didn’t expect this - we knew that Mazembe were good, but we didn’t expect to lose. But it’s not a question of whether their win was deserved or not - the team that scores the most goals deserves to win.
