FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup history
Paraguay 2019 will be Belarus’s maiden appearance at the Beach Soccer World Cup.
The Road to Paraguay
Belarus sounded a warning to their rivals during the opening group phase of European qualifying by prevailing against Poland (6-3), Lithuania (3-3, PSO 2-0) and Switzerland (2-2, PSO 3-2). After eliminating France (4-1) in the Round of 16, they posted emphatic wins over Portugal (3-2) and Italy (3-3, PSO 3-2) in the second group phase to secure their place in Paraguay. And while their subsequent defeat to Poland (4-3) denied them a place in the final, then bowed out in style by beating Switzerland a second time (6-2) to finish third - this despite only managing to score 3.75 goals per game on average.
