Argentina and Paraguay secured qualification for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Tahiti 2013 with victories over Ecuador and Brazil on Saturday.

The first semi-final in San Luis, Argentina produced a major upset with Paraguay seeing off Brazil 1-0 on penalties following a 3-3 draw. The result means Paraguay advance to the world stage for the first time, while four-time world champions Brazil have one final opportunity to qualify in Sunday’s play-off against Ecuador.

The second semi-final saw home side Argentina keep up their record of reaching every FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup with a relatively comfortable 5-3 win over Ecuador.

Earlier in the day, Chile won 2-1 on penalties (6-6) against Uruguay to win fifth place.
