Japan have opened up Group D with a deserved 3-1 win over Paraguay leaving the pair sharing three points apiece after the second matchday at the 2013 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

Paraguay started slowly in contrast to their opponents and it was to prove costly.

Hirofumi Oda scored in the opening minutes for Japan and Takeshi Kawaharazuka then struck the frame of the goal, with Paraguay pushed onto the back foot by Samurai Blue’s high speed game.

Player of the Asian qualifying tournament Ozu Moreira then doubled Japan’s lead with a low sweetly-hit shot from distance.

When Oda got his second soon after the first interval with an opportunistic finish, it was a case of Japan holding onto their hard won lead and attempting to control the tempo.

Pedro Moran netted with a cool volley after the start of the third period to give Paraguay hope.

Juan Lopez hit the post soon after and Gustavo Benitez clipped the crossbar with a speculative effort as the South Americans finished strongly to no avail.
