Paraguay have kick-started the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Tahiti 2013 with a comeback 10-6 win over Côte d'Ivoire in their first-ever match in the tournament.

The South Americans were behind until early in the third period against a brave Ivorian side who had only one reserve due to visa issues.

There were hat-tricks for both Paraguay’s Juan Lopez and Luis Pereira, but it was impressive Ivorian pivot Daniel Kouassitchi who claimed the goalscoring honours with three goals.

Although defeated Côte d'Ivoire notched a milestone by scoring the first goal of the tournament with a bicycle kick from Kouassitchi on 2 minutes, 43 seconds

Despite the late goal rush it took Paraguay until the 8-minute mark to score their first ever FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup goal with a perfect fierce low drive from distance via the foot of Juan Lopez.

Côte d'Ivoire goalkeeper Armand Kouadio was busy throughout but eventually the tide proved too much, although he and his team-mates can take numerous positives from the contest.

The win sets up Paraguay’s Group D campaign with further matches against Japan and world champions Russia to come.
