Street League is the UK’s leading sport for employment charity, using the power of football to help young people overcome barriers standing in their way of employment.

Partly funded by the FIFA Foundation, Street League helps 16 to 24-year-olds from disadvantaged backgrounds learn the key skills to help them progress into jobs, training and education.

The initiative operates in 14 regions across England and Scotland where up to one in five young people are unemployed.

By using the beautiful game as a tool for change, Street League engages with those struggling to find work and qualifications - teaching them the integral life and work skills needed to gain sustainable employment.

Programmes range from the opportunity to take nationally recognised qualifications to one-on-one career mentoring, which has supported nearly 6,000 young people into work since 2010.

Over the past 12 months alone, 1,127 young people progressed into jobs, education and further training, while just under 500 sustained employment outcomes for at least six months over the past year.

Jose Mourinho is just one of many high-profile names in football to salute Street League’s impressive work, the Portuguese being full of praise for the charity when he visited one of its London programmes. "This is an amazing project," he said. "As a football man, I feel so proud that my sport can make such a difference in these young people's lives."

Street League is one of a number of organisations supported by the FIFA Foundation's Community Programme.
