New CBF President takes office and announces new initiatives

The new president of the Brazilian Football Association (CBF), Rogerio Caboclo, took office on Tuesday 9 April and announced a series of actions, including the building of a new training centre and a council formed by great names of the game. The inauguration ceremony was attended by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura and CONMEBOL President Alejandro Dominguez.

"We are experiencing a turning point," said Caboclo during his inauguration speech. "If we want to have the best football in the world, we need to speed up our development, on and off the pitch. This is my mission. Together, we will make Brazilian football stronger for the benefit of the ones delivering the show on the pitch and those supporting them in the stands."

"Brazil, as we all know, is the country of football par excellence," said Infantino. "Football in Brazil is passion, emotion, life, everything. It is important therefore for world football that the CBF is a strong, powerful and professional association. We will support them in every way we can, and we wish the new CBF administration lots of success in terms of both sporting results and infrastructural development."
