According to article 51 of the FIFA Statutes, the FIFA Audit and Compliance Committee advises, assists and oversees the Council in monitoring FIFA’s financial and compliance matters, and monitors compliance with the FIFA Governance Regulations.

The Audit and Compliance Committee ensures the completeness and reliability of the financial accounting and reviews the financial statements, the consolidated financial statement and the external auditors’ report. The committee furthermore monitors FIFA’s financial and compliance matters including, in particular, the distribution and flow of development-related funds, and suggests to the appropriate FIFA bodies any action that it deems necessary as a result of such monitoring.

The chairperson, deputy chairperson and members of the Audit and Compliance Committee are elected by the Congress. Their terms last four years, beginning at the end of the Congress which has elected them. The chairperson, deputy chairperson and other members of the Audit and Compliance Committee may only be relieved of their duties by the Congress.
