FIFA’s markedly increased investment in TV production for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011™ was recognised by the broadcast media industry on Tuesday when FIFA won the Golden Podium award for the “Best Slow-Motion – Isolated Camera Shot” at Sportel Monaco, the international sports convention for television and new media.
The sequence titled “Winners and Losers” featured the penalty shoot-out between England and France in the quarterfinals, and poignantly captures the agony of Faye White's missed penalty as the ecstatic French celebrate victory. The clip can be viewed here.
The Match Director was Wolfgang Straub, who was also a Match Director at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. The overall production was co-ordinated by HBS.
