FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter has asked the Philippines Football Federation (PFF) to step up their efforts in order to promote the game in the country.

Blatter and AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam, who is also the FIFA Goal *Bureau chairman, inaugurated the headquarters of PFF, which was built under FIFA *Goal Project-II, on Saturday.

After touring the new facility, Blatter promised support to a new development programme in Mindanao region saying, "This project will be close to my heart. I, together with the AFC President, will give this project the priority so that football can become the leading sport in Philippines."

He said FIFA and AFC are ready to give all the support but the PFF will have to do their homework in order to develop the game.

Bin Hammam hoped that the new administration of the PFF will bring back the glory days of Philippines football. "PFF got the base now but unfortunately the sport is not the most popular here. I believe the federation here needs stability in administration. I hope the PFF will have more productive activities in the near future," he said.

PFF President Jose Mari Martinez revealed that football is the first national sports body of the country to have its own building. "We will deliver our promise to develop football in this country," he assured.
